Who we are

The Construction Bookkeeper provides bookkeeping, CIS, VAT and payroll services to construction businesses in the United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the information described below. You can reach us at hello@theconstructionbookkeeper.co.uk.

What we collect

If you fill in the form on this website, or one of our lead forms on Facebook or Instagram, we collect the details you give us: your name, company name, mobile number, email address, and your answers to our questions about your trade, rough turnover, how many subcontractors you use, who does your books now, and anything you write about your biggest headache.

On Facebook and Instagram forms, Meta fills in your name, email and phone from your profile. You can change them before you submit. We do not receive anything else from your profile.

This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies, and does not track you across other sites.

Why we use it

We use it to contact you about the free call you asked for, to prepare for that call, and to work out whether our service is a fit for your business. We may follow up by phone, text, WhatsApp or email about that enquiry.

Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: you asked us to get in touch, and contacting you about that is what you would reasonably expect. You can tell us to stop at any time and we will.

We do not sell your information and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

How long we keep it

Twenty four months from the last time you were in contact with us, then we delete it. If you become a client, your records are kept for as long as the law requires for accounting and tax purposes. If you ask us to delete your enquiry sooner, we will.

Who else handles it

We use a small number of services to run this process. Each handles your information on our instructions only:

Some of these companies are based in the United States. Where information leaves the UK, it is protected by the safeguards in the UK GDPR, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

To do any of these, email hello@theconstructionbookkeeper.co.uk. We will respond within one month. There is no charge.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
